Each day follows a consistent rhythm that’s anchored in routine, but responsive to the child. While the exact flow varies day by day, a typical program includes:

- Age-specific activities following the Early Years Learning Framework.
- Enrichment programs like music, art, gardening and sensory experiences.
- Access to nature and outdoor learning spaces.
- Nutritious meals and snacks.
- Nap time, resting and quiet play to recharge the batteries.
- Small-group learning, social activities and creative sessions.
- Messy play and artistic sessions.
Our experienced educators observe and adapt throughout the day, so that every child experiences plenty of joy and discovery – and a little downtime, because we know kids need their rest.
What is the educational approach at Teddington Bears Early Learning Centre?
We are guided by the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and the National Quality Standards (NQS), both of which emphasise play-based, inquiry-driven learning. Our curriculum planning is thoughtful and responsive, balancing long-term learning outcomes with each child’s unique developmental journey.
Play-Based Learning
Active learning allows us to embed academic concepts like pre-literacy and pre-numeracy, as well as music, creativity and curiosity about the natural world. We focus on STEM skills and social confidence by blending guided activities with self-directed learning, all within a Circle of Security scaffolding that creates a safe space for children to explore.
By following your children’s interests and extending their play through open questions and intentional scaffolding, our educators help transform curiosity into deep, authentic learning.
How do you support school readiness?
Our School Readiness Program sets children up to be well-rounded and confident as they take the next big step of starting school. We focus on foundational skills like literacy and numeracy, as well as:
- Following routines and completing tasks.
- Building independence.
- Managing emotions and friendships.
- Asking questions and expressing ideas.
- Being comfortable in peer groups and learning to share.
School readiness at Teddington Bears focuses on developing confident, curious, capable humans who thrive in new environments.

Are meals and snacks provided?
We provide all meals and snacks throughout the day. Everything is prepared fresh onsite by dedicated kitchen staff in a hygienic environment. A typical day includes morning tea, lunch and an afternoon snack.
All our seasonal menus include a variety of fruits, vegetables, grains, dairy and proteins, supporting children’s health and development. We celebrate diversity by incorporating multicultural dishes that introduce children to new tastes and traditions. We also cater for allergies, intolerances and cultural needs, ensuring that every child is nourished and included.
What about nappies and daily essentials?
We provide nappies, wipes, sunscreen and bedding. We also manage all learning materials, so there’s no need to bring toys or supplies* from home. All you need to pack is a labelled change of clothes.
*For infants, we will happily accommodate any specific formula or comfort items your child uses.
How do you handle nap time and rest?
We have scheduled rest times each day, and we pay close attention to each child’s individual needs and energy levels. Infants follow their own routines, while toddlers and pre-kindy children enjoy rest or quiet time throughout the day. Our educators create a peaceful environment, helping children feel safe and supported whether they choose to nap, relax quietly, or engage in calming activities.
Can you help me access the Child Care Subsidy?
Yes. We’re an approved Child Care Subsidy (CCS) provider. Many of our families receive subsidies through the Australian Government scheme. The amount you’re eligible for depends on your income, activity hours and the number of days your child attends.
Our admin team is happy to guide you through the process or answer questions about fees, bookings or eligibility. You can also estimate your subsidy via the Services Australia website.
What happens if my child is sick or hurt during the day?
If your child becomes ill during the day, we’ll call you right away and provide comfort and care until you arrive. For anything more serious, we have established emergency procedures that prioritise child safety and wellbeing.
We follow WA Health guidelines for exclusion periods and illness management. For the health and safety of all children and staff, we ask that unwell children stay home. If you’re unsure whether your child should attend, our team is just a phone call away.
